Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing amazing. Today I am going to explore a little about the life of an icon from the 50's, which was Marylin Monroe, one of the biggest names in the cinematic history.
Marylin, whose real name was Norma Jeane Mortensen, was a really influential woman in the 50's. She was born in june, 1926 in Los Angeles.
Due to her mother's psychological problems, Norma had a childhood full of foster homes and different families. When she was only 16, she found herself in a situation that made her feel almost obligated to get married to her 21 year old boyfriend, that worked at the marine, so she did it, since there were literally no options left. However, he ended up having to move, which lead the young girl to finally ersue her acting dreams. The divorce came months before she signed her first contract with Twentieth Century Fox in august, 1946.
So, she adopted the name Marylin Monroe and descolorated her hair to the iconic platinum blonde that we all know. Her first acting job was an irrelevant paper in "The Shocking Miss Pilgrim" in 1947.
In january, 1954, Marilyn married the ex baseball player Joe Di Maggio, a sports legend in the USA . During the honeymoon, in Tokyo, Marilyn performanced for the soldiers that were serving in Korea. Joe, couldn't handle his wife's exposition, and, nine months after, in october 1954, they got divorced.
In 1956, she married Arthur Miller, an Americal playwrighter. In 1961, after losing a baby, the couple splitted up. In the same year she did her last movie, "The Misfits".
One of her most famous performances was "Happy birthday to you", in an extremely sensual way, to the american president, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, in the Madison Square Garden. The fact reforced the idea of them being lovers.
Four months after the episode, Marylin was found dead, holding the phone, in her room.
This icon, that left the world at 36 years old embodied the Hollywood glamour in the 50's. Her innocent and vulnerable looks, joined with her sensuality, made her one of the most desired women in the 20th century.
I hope you liked this,
See you next time,
