First organ transplant

 Hello everyone!

Today I´m going to talk about a very interesting fact about the 50´s!!

Did you know that the first successful organ transplant was in 1954? If you did, which organ was it?

Well it was a kidney and it was given by a living donor who gave it to his identical twin.

  • The first ever successful transplant of any organ was done at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Ma. The surgery was done by Dr. Joseph Murray, who received the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his work. The reason for his success was due to Richard and Ronald Herrick of Maine.
This transplant was a major event in the history of medicine, because it gave hope and more medical knowledge to health professionals.

It not only gave a evolution to medicine but it also increased the prosperity of live, because it gave an opportunity to the ones which had an organ failure and other kind of diseases.

I know that probably for most of you this is a little bit boring, but can you image the change that happened after this event in the health department, the lives that were saved and the lives that they continue to save after this enormous accomplishment.
I hope you all got a Little bit more of knowledge, because it's not every day that we get to experience this kind of miracles!!
